Complex Speed Limit Is 10 MPH!

The Speed Limit anywhere in the SCAA Complex is 10mph!

Violators are this are subject to disciplinary action up to and including being banned from the Complex.

Please, take your time!  If you're already late, the 30 seconds you save isn't worth the danger!

We have a lot of children running around the complex, crossing the street to get to practices and games so please observe the speed limit!

Pet/Animal Policy

No Pets or Animals are allowed at the SCAA Complex with the exception of registered, licensed, and properly trained service animals.

The work or task an animal has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA or under Virginia law and are not allowed at SCAA.

While not required, we ask that service animals display their identifying leash, vest, or harness so they are easily identifiable to our volunteers.

SCAA reserves the right to ask any animal to leave the grounds if it poses a direct threat to the health and safety of our visitors.

Parking is allowed in designated parking areas only.

Parking on the side of the roads and field entrances is prohibited.

Coaches are not allowed to drive or park on service roads to access fields.

The amount of damage we get at the complex, as well as injuries that have happened, from unattended children is a very real problem. Parents must keep their children from climbing trees, playing in drainage ditches, digging in field, roadways/paths, and other common areas, and should monitor children at all times. Parents will be held responsible for any damage to any SCAA facility or equipment.

SCAA Anti-Bullying Policy

This Anti-Bullying Policy overview is intended to guide all Managers, Coaches, Players, Volunteers, Parents, Guardians, and Spectators in their behavior at Southern Chesapeake Athletic Association (SCAA) sanctioned games, practices, events, complex and fields. Bullying not only leads to anxiety and low self-esteem in youth who are targeted, but also causes other youth to feel unsafe. Youth of all ages deserve the right to feel safe and supported by all SCAA Board Members, Managers, Coaches, Players, Volunteers, and Parents. By raising awareness throughout our league, Board Members, Coaches and Parents can work together to ensure that SCAA is a place that all members & players feel welcome and included.

Child Abuse Reporting

SCAA Coaches are required by Virginia Statute to report any suspected cases of child abuse and neglect via Section § 63.2-1509
Being Mandated Reporters, all SCAA Coaches are required to report suspected abuse using one the following methods in the "Reporting Links" section within 24 hours of discovery.

Incident/Injury Reporting

SCAA requires that we have written documentation of any injuries or accidents sustained either at the SCAA Complex (by players, coaches, spectators, vendors, etc.) or while a registered SCAA player or coach is representing the organization as a rostered team member of an SCAA team at and SCAA sanctioned event. This is required for insurance purposes and will keep the Board of Directors informed of any injuries/incidents. It will also aid SCAA in the further development of safety measures to protect the membership and property.

SCAA Weather Safety

Baseball and Softball are by designed outdoor activities.  SCAA has a variety of policies covering weather events we may run into at the Complex.

Background Checks

Team Managers, Coach Eligibles, Umpires, & Board of Directors Background Checks are now sent directly from our provider JDP. All coaches must register with SCAA on our website and volunteer for the position they will be holding. The SCAA Safety Manager will send JDP a report with your contact information and JDP will then contact you with the link to your background check application.

Upon completion of your background check both you and SCAA will be notified of any findings and your approval or restriction from coaching will be added to your account on the SCAA website.
